Jennifer O'Donnell
I am honored to announce that I am running for Canton School
Committee.
I have spent the past year dedicating endless hours into
researching and reaching out to the different agencies throughout the state. As well as our Administration. In hopes to better understand the bullying procedures and protocols. Every moment has been not only worth it but confirmation that a change is needed on our committee, and I truly believe I’m not only the right person for the job at hand but more importantly for the job ahead. To bring back the collaboration between our community and our administration and school committee.

I hope we can focus not only our resources but our energy back into the canton's student’s, their teachers and the buildings they are in every day. The rest we have hired the best of the best to figure out. I truly believe we are on a breaking point for bullying in our town. Bullying and harassment is why I started paying more attention to what was really happening in our district. With our policies and procedures, and what They consider an acceptable bar to set for our children here in CANTON.

As Maya Angelo said “ Develop enough courage so that you can stand up for yourself, and then stand up for someone else.”

I have known from a very young age I was meant to be not only a voice but a force for children. Children that are too afraid to speak or degraded to think they are worth it. No child should be in a fight or flight mode for the day simply from taing the bus to school. No child should want to hide their body and self away from their peers out of fear they will be noticed or next for the ROASTING. This is their school, their community, we are the grown ups entrusted to ensure a safe social and emotional space for them to thrive and become our next great leaders, creators, inventors and adventurers. My entire platform for running is to figure out a way to make that safe space a reality for every child in our community.

My Husband Kevin and I moved to Canton in 2011, we have had the pleasure of raising our three children here ever since. We have been so fortunate to have had the most caring and skilled teachers & support staff, every step of the way for our families journey through the canton schools. Some of the best tears of both joy and frustration have been shared with the teachers of our amazing district.

While I was primarily raised in Dover MA, my roots are far vaster than that. I am confident my unique experiences and lessons learned in life have taught me a very valuable skill set. I have also learned children should not and do not have to carry the weight of our world... It is each of our jobs to protect them, provide for them. It's that simple. While our schools are absolutely outstanding, a disconnect has occurred with our Administration and before we really see the effects of how low that Bar has been set, I would like an opportunity to help fix the damage and prevent more.

I have always been active here in Canton, I have enjoyed teaching CCD at St Gerard, I've been lucky enough to be room mom many years. I have loved substituting throughout our district. The Rodman definitely holding a very special spot for me. Our family has run food pantry drives regularly in our neighborhoods. I look forward to joining more committee's now that our kids are getting a little older. I have the heart and the drive to put all my energy into our schools. If you would all consider voting for me on April 2nd. I would love the opportunity to show exactly what I'm made of.
