Christine Untersee
As a Trustee, I am committed to supporting and guiding our
library, the heart of our entire community. A library is more than
just books. It is where toddlers make their first friends. It provides
a quiet spot to read or just sit, and a book delivered to the
homebound. Patrons have access to technology either onsite or a
hotspot to take on the go. It's a place to hang out after school,
and meet up to work on projects. It's study groups, book groups, cooking classes and learning new skills. It's a meeting place for community groups and an entertainment venue. The list goes on. I am proud of our library and the many programs we are able to provide to all ages and interests. I am excited to help move forward in building a beautiful public park surrounding the library building and updating the interior design of the building, in order to continue to serve our entire community. It will take experience and knowledge to guide these projects.

I was elected to the Board of Trustees in 2018, after many years enjoying the library for myself and with my children. In my time as Trustee, I have served on committees to update library policies, rethink the design of our library space, and judged many Canton Writes entries. Currently, I serve on the Library Redesign Committee and the Materials Selection Policy Update Committee. I work in the Canton Public Schools where I began as a Library Clerk in 2006 and have filled many roles since that time, including my current position as Educational Assistant. I was instrumental in bringing after school enrichment clubs to students in the Remote Learning Pathway during the Covid pandemic, and continue to run clubs at the Luce Elementary school. I also work with Empower, Inc. teaching courses for students in the after school program and running their school age summer camp program. I hold a BFA in Technical Theater from Emerson College, and have worked backstage with the Canton Community Theater for many years, as well as serving as a member of their Board of Directors.
I ask for your support, please vote Untersee for Trustee. I pledge to continue to use my skills and experience to help our library keep pace with the changing needs of Canton.
